The stunningly beautiful lagoon of Balos is located about 17km northwest of Kissamos. It is one of the most beautiful beaches of Chania and one of the most photographed tourist attractions as it is famous for its emerald waters, its pure exotic beauty and its peaceful natural landscape. The lagoon of Balos has a characteristic white sand and its waters are shallow and warm, ie it is an ideal destination for families with small children. An interesting spectacle is the existence of sand in a wonderful pink shade due to the crushed shells (perforated).
In its deepest parts, the lagoon, among other things, offers a very interesting seabed, ideal for a mask. It is worth noting that the area is part of the Natura protection program for rare species of flora and fauna.
It is worth visiting the beautiful church of Agios Pantos on Cape Tigani as well as the cavern on the north side of the island, a place where during the Ottoman rule many women and children who had taken refuge in the place as a hideout died tragically. Equally worth a visit are the ruins of the Roman city of Agneio on the north side of the island, at Cape Korykon, where there is a temple dedicated to the god Apollo.

Menies or Diktynna are located at the northeastern tip of the Spatha Peninsula and at the exit of the Founta Gorge. This is a beach of exceptional beauty with crystal clear blue waters. It is invulnerable to the usual winds of the area and for this reason it is the right place for relaxation and tranquility. At the same time, 1 km southwest of the beach is the Monastery of Agios Georgios which dates back many centuries. It was built in the 9th century but stopped operating at some point due to continuous pirate raids. Menies are also located in the area of Ancient Diktynna. Diktynna was the most important sanctuary of the goddess Vritomartida, who was associated with the goddess Artemis and received visits from all over Crete. Today there are still ruins of the ancient Roman temple and the port facilities that have come to the surface due to subsequent earthquakes.
